Koolbox sells both to retailers and directly to government bodies including the Ministry of Defence. While they initially specialised in ‘extreme’ goods, they decided to expand their offering to include a wider range of more mainstream options.

“Around 2008 I decided to apply for a government grant to help with the expansion. Paul Goodman was listed as a locally approved broker, so I asked him to work on the application on our behalf,” explained Bob.

“We got the grant and have been working with Goodman ever since. They helped us with the installation of Sage accounting software, and found us a Business Angel who helps us with funding for pre-sold orders, mostly by factoring invoices.

“Without Goodman’s support and our Business Angel, we wouldn’t be here today. They even funded some historic debt where the banks didn’t want to know. Now the future is bright and we’re growing relatively quickly.
