A further post from the Goodman Team on what we get up to! This time on our managing director, and NACFB Chair, Paul. Find out about the brokers you’re dealing with and get to know us on a personal level.
About Paul:
Paul is the Managing Director for Goodman Corporate Finance. He founded the company on the 4th of February 2006 (it was recently our 16th anniversary as a company!). Paul is also the Chair of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) and has been since January 2015. He has been on the board of directors since 2011.
In his free time, Paul enjoys training with PT Donna and rugby training. His favourite band is Elbow, his favourite film is The Great Escape, and his favourite food is steak. He noted how his favourite restaurant is J Sheekey in London – it specialises in serving seafood!
Paul describes himself as a petrol head and loves all things car and all things driving!
Work life:
A “normal” workday involves getting up early with Jack and then some form of fitness training. Paul is generally at his desk by about half 8 and then spends a couple of hours undertaking key meetings or calls for the NACFB.
He also supports the Goodman team with updates on lenders’ products and offerings, deal transactions and looking at new funders to bring on board. Paul also makes sure to vet lenders and ensure they are perfect for our clients and the deals. Paul always focuses on ensuring that Goodman Corporate Finance is heading in the right direction with general overviews of the business.
After the workday, he spends time with Jack after nursery, has tea with Jamie, Jack and wife Roxanne and helps with putting Jack to bed. A glass of red wine is then enjoyed before an early night ready for an early start!
Home life:
When Paul isn’t working, he can be found spending his time with his sons Jack and Jamie, and his wife Roxanne. The family enjoy adventure days out with Jack, they recently went to the National Space Centre.
Paul is also a huge fan of rugby and sports in general (playing and training!), and this is reflected in how GCF supports and sponsors Long Eaton Rugby Club, Draper Norton Football Academy, and Gedling and Sherwood Cricket Club.
When not sporting, Paul and the family love nothing more than to spend time at the beach in the Isle of Wight, specifically at Steephill Cove.
