The Draper Norton Football Academy, which is ran by Mark Draper, is over the moon to have won their 1st league match v Bedworth United Academy last Wednesday (08/09/2021). The team won the match 6-0, courtesy of two goals from Sam Smithurst, two goals from Matt Dickinson, and two further goals from Harrison Mellors and Oliver Slepko. When approached about the game, Mark noted how “it was a great day all round with beautiful sunshine and the 6-0 win”.
Mark also highlighted that the match was a great chance to “finally get back to some sort of normality with Covid restrictions being in place most of last season”.
The relaxing of Covid restrictions allowed for use of the dressing rooms again, which, as Mark noted, “allowed for the team to hang out their brand-new kit” which we here at Goodman Corporate Finance were proud to donate.
Goodman is thrilled to sponsor the Draper Norton Football Academy. Sponsoring, and supporting local group initiatives like this really reflects the ethos within Goodman Corporate. More about our corporate social responsibility and support for local communities can be read about in our ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ section of our webpage here.
The team is excited to play next week’s game, where the Reds can also wear their new kit which was also donated by Paul and the team here at Goodman.
However, in the light of the team’s win and new kit, Mark also spoke of young footballer Dylan Rich who sadly passed away playing for his homegrown club West Bridgford the week before. The young footballer was suspected to have suffered a cardiac arrest during a match and was much-loved by the local community. Information on the full tragedy can be read here. Mark commented on how Wednesday’s match was “an occasion for a minute silence, observed impeccably by all, for the tragic death of young footballer Dylan Rich”.
The Draper Norton Football Academy and Goodman Corporate Finance’s sympathies go out to everyone concerned, especially Dylan’s family and friends.
