I.M.R which is based on the Ballonwoods Industrial Estate was established by Ian Robertson who continues to run the business with his wife Lynne. It began life in November 1994 with one truck and one trailer. Over the subsequent years the business has grown on word of mouth and today enjoys a portfolio of long standing clients served by a fleet which now operates 40 vehicles, ranging from transit vans to rigids and artics. The business benefits from a location that enjoys a close proximity to the M1. For a number of years they have operated for companies in the printing industry as well as for a number of the country’s leading supermarkets.

RBS through its commercial banking and invoice finance operations in Nottingham have put in place an enhanced working capital line, as the business strives for further growth from its current £4.5m turnover.

Commenting on the prospects for the company, Ian Robertson, managing director, I.M.R Transport Ltd said: “Thanks to the diversity of our customer base we have continued to grow the business through the period of the recession. As we emerge on the other side, we are seeing signs of further order growth in our customer base, which means we have required this extra funding that RBS has made available to us. This is to allow us to increase our operating capacity and enhance our delivery for our customers.”

John Gell, relationship director at RBS in Nottingham added: “Ian and Lynne have built a strong haulage and storage business which is ideally located to access the UK’s motorway network. Our funding will look to help them continue their growth over the next few years.”
